Real materials

Fonkelle crowns are built on a cast brass frame — substantial, not flimsy — then plated in either warm gold or bright rhodium at a genuine 2–3 micron thickness. This is a jewellery finish with depth and shine, not the sprayed-on colour that flakes off a plastic crown after a few wears.

Stones that stay

The sparkle comes from AAA-grade cubic zirconia and crystal — and crucially, every stone is prong- or bezel-set, never glued. Glued stones fall out; set stones hold. It's slower and more expensive to make this way, and it's the whole difference between something you throw away and something you keep.

Made to last, not to landfill

Most children's crowns are designed to be replaced — a few euros, a few weeks, then the bin. We think that maths is wrong, for your home and for the planet. Goedkoop is duurkoop, as we say in Dutch: cheap is expensive. One crown made properly outlives a drawerful of broken plastic, and leaves far less behind.

The palette is restrained by design: a pink hero stone and apex, aqua feature stones, small lavender accents, and clear crystal for the rest — roughly seventy percent clear to thirty percent colour, mirror-symmetric across the whole crown.

Made for a child

The band is an adjustable, open-back design with looped terminals and soft ribbon ties, so one size sits comfortably across ages (suitable from age 3). Soft, rounded peaks and airy filigree keep it light to wear.

Safe by standard, not by claim

Fonkelle is being made to comply with the European EN71 toy-safety directive and REACH jewellery regulations, and is nickel-free. For a product worn by children and bought on trust, compliance isn't a feature — it's the floor.

The keepsake box

Every crown arrives in a premium rigid keepsake display box, with a keepsake card to inscribe — "This crown belongs to ___ · For ___". It's designed to be the thing a family keeps on the shelf, not the packaging they throw away.
